When looking for a certification exam that will allow you to demonstrate to companies looking to hire proficient IT professions, the CompTIA A+ is your best choice.  The topics covered in the exam demonstrate an understanding of core technical skills as well as critical IT support tasks.

The certification requires the test taker to pass 2 separate exams.  Every few years the topics and questions are updated to keep up with the technology.

In order to pass the exams you will need a strong understanding of the following:

Hardware – Identifying, using and connecting hardware components and devices.

Networking – Explain types of networks and connections including TCP/IP, WIFI and SOHO.

Mobile Devices – Install & configure laptops and other mobile devices.

Operating Systems – Install and support Windows OS including command line & client support. Understand Mac OS, Linux and mobile OS.

Hardware & Network Troubleshooting – Troubleshoot device and network issues.
