Latest Video Conference Discussion

Every morning Dave, Tom and I get together using our video conferencing equipment to discuss what is going on around the world. When the topics get interesting, I will post the transcript here.

This morning we discussed Donald Rumsfeld and the horrible things that our soldiers did to the Iraqi prisoners. It is no surprise that many Democrats in Congress are voicing their opinions for Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld should leave.

Yesterday, Senator Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) said: "For the good of our country, the safety of our troops, and our image around the globe, Secretary Rumsfeld should resign. If he does not resign forthwith, the president should fire him."

I had to grab the photos I cut out the other day from the paper to remind myself how bad it was. We all agreed that Rumsfeld should step down.

Just in case no one heard the president apoligize yesterday, here is how he said it...

"Sorry for the humiliation suffered by the Iraqi prisoners and the humiliation suffered by their families."

He finished by saying how the images made Americans "sick to their stomach."

more to come as the discussion unfolds...

There are 3 main services to consider when using Video Teleconferencing

Video Bridging Service - Locations using the video setup can be bridged into a call through "multipoint video bridging." This is probably the most cost effective way to video conference. Any party in the system can dial-in or out. This is a highly secure way to meet. Options can be set so that only one segment can speak and the rest of the segments can only listen and observe.

Video Gateway Service - With a Gateway service you will be able to make calls between an ISDN circuit switched location and other IP / Data locations. Right now video conferencing setups have difficulty communicating between parties with different networks. With a gateway service ISDN can communicate with a IP P2P network.

Video On-Demand Service - The most advanced and most expensive option allows a party to start a conference at any time and have the system connect to a specified list of invited guests.
